Troop Events & Outings 2002-2003

Our first meeting this year was October 5, 2002

In October we celebrated Juliette Low's birthday by making The Original Girl Scout Cookie Recipe and learning Sign Language.

In November the troop held an Investiture/Rededication Ceremony. The girls decided they wanted to try a flag ceremony for the first time. They did a wonderful job!

In December we visited a Senior home to spend time with some patients there. The girls sang Christmas carols and gave patients presents and cards. We enjoyed our time with them!

In January cookie sales started.  The girls decided on there goals for this year.  Girl Scout Kennywood Day and 2 Camping trips are on the top of the list.    We also held a Court Of Awards Ceremony and the girls received the patches they have earned thus far.   The girls MagNut money paid for a She/Me Tea Party this month where the girls dressed up, learned etiquette and the history of tea in order to earn the Manners Try-It.  It was a wonderful time!

In February the girls exchanged valentines for Valentines Day and made a craft.  They colored T-Shirts we ordered for the troop, and we also participated in a community Thinking Day Event.  Our troop represented Germany.  The girls did a wonderful job at the event and we all had alot of fun!

In March the girls practiced for the booth sale and played games, Mrs. Roxanne was at Train the Trainers Training for this meeting.

In April we had an Easter Egg hunt and decorated bags to collect the eggs in. The girls made bunnys to bring home for a decoration. We worked on our scrapbooks, I think the girls are having alot of fun with this! And we started to plan for our camping trips.

In May Mrs. Roxanne & Mrs. Pat went to the adult Spring Fling. We stayed in platform tents and ran two workshops the following day. The sharing session where leaders got to sit and share what there troops have done. The SWAPS workshop were we provided leaders with the supplies and examples to make swaps. We then traded them so they would have to take back to their troop. It was a great event!
Camp Permission slips were given as well as personal equipment list. We made Sit-Upons which will finish up the Girl Scout Ways Try-It for most of the girls. Autumn and Cassie have been planning the bridging ceremony for camp.
